The Catcher in the Rye

It is a very good book which talks about the step of passing through being an adolecent to becoming a men. This book shows a men who does not understand the world he was living . The thing is that he had to fight with it anyways, so he started to analyze everything he was feeling, seeing or living. It is in this moment, when the little person starts to feel that he did not belong to that place, and that is why he did not feel, neither, confortable in any place. So that he decided to leave the place where he was studying, and go to different places to spend his time while he decides how to tell their family that he got expelled from his school. He lived a lot of hard experiences, this made him realise that nothing really fullfil his expectatives. After a lot of anecdotes, he realised that his place is where his family is.
What called my attention, from this book, was that he felt so lonely, that with the only thing that I can relate it to is with the absence of his family. In the whole book, his family appears like a very important subject in his life. But, sadly, the only person that is with him in good and bad moments is his sister. He never mentioned his parents, he did not even mentioned their names, so that we can infer that they are not present. Also, we can see the same thing if we think of the case that his parents left him in a private school, where he have to spend the whole week, and he just had the weekend to visit his parents. This did not happen with his brothers and sister. So maybe, he felt rejected because he did not see interest on him, by his parents.

Life Satisfaction

Flow: Is the “state” in which people feel that they do not have something to be worried about, and they just think about having a good time.

Life satisfaction: Is the feeling of being in good shape (you feel good) in terms of health, work, studies, family life, etc.

Why they are considered important?
Because they let us identify when we are feeling good, in terms of feel satisfyed with our lives. It is something that, nowadays, does not could help people to feel better wirh their lives, because, as we can see in the subway, people is always complaining about something. It let us infer that they are not satisfied with their families.
How they have been applied or what areas of life they’ve been applied to and how?
they have been aplied in some places, like companies that need their workers working happy. For example, if a company have workers who are always in contact with other people, in representing the company. In this case they need people smiling an not people who are always angry because of something.

Do you believe in this idea of happiness?
Yes. Actually, I think that if you try to dedicate time to yourself, you will notice what things make you unhappy, and you could avoid them to be happier in the future.

What do you think have been the happiest moments of your life?
I cannot say which moment of my life is the happiest one, but I can say that I am passing through a very happy moment with my boyfriend, and, in this moment, our relationship is our happiness.

Can you think of a person that inspires you in terms of having a positive attitude?
Well, again, my boyfriend. He has inspired me to see, always, the possitive side of a problem, and not just in the negative one.

Happiness And Work

- Why do you think so many people are unhappy in their jobs?
In my opinion, people is unhappy with their jobs, because there are few opportunities to study. What I mean is that education is a business for the gobernment, so that if people do not have the money to pay it, they cannot study what they really want. It is for that, that people need to look for other jobs that do not fulfil their espectations. For that reason people do not feel good with their job or motivated to go working.
- If you could choose any job, what job would you choose and why?
Well, actualy, I chose my job, and I am preparing myself to do everything I can to be a really good English Teacher. I would like to start doing classes, now, because I feel that the constant interaction with students makes me be actualized in terms of what is missing in education and act against wrong things that are there.
- Why do you think you would enjoy this job?
Because we are in a constact contact with people that do not think like us, and that gives us other things in what to think about, what is interesting and fun. The constant contact with people makes teachers to be alive, to say it somehow. That is to say, it helps in terms of being aware of what is happening around teachers.
- Why would it be a satisfying job to do?
Because teachers have to deal with too many people who have something to give them, in terms of feelings, they can learn too many things each day, and each day they receive more affection.
- Do you know anybody who has this kind of job?
Yes, too many people, and some are not satisfied with it, because they never wanted to be teachers, and they studied it because they did not have another opportunity. But, there are other who are satisfied with it and they try to do their best every day.

Dónde estás Constanza

This book called “Dónde estás Constanza” shows us a story about adolescents’ relationships. In fact, it shows how people become from children to adults, passing though the adolescence. In my opinion, it was a book that represents in a good way how people pass through these steps in life. It shows children of different ages where you can see clearly this difference.

First of all, we have the case of a 13 year-old boy. He had been thinking as a normal 13 year-old person till he met a 12 year-old girl that he fell in love with. After meet her he begun to start thinking about being with her and have a relationship with her, things that he never thought before. In this part of the book we can see the difference between the boy’s thoughts passing through his childhood to his teens.

Second, in the chapters where the boy gets away with the girl to live her dream he realizes that those kinds of acts are irresponsible. In this case the boy began to think that she is not getting worried about her family or friends, she is just thinking about her own dreams that, certainly, are not his dreams. Because of that, the boy gets away from the girl by his own. In this case we can see how the boy began thinking and acting as an adult. He started to get worried about if acts where responsible o irresponsible in steed of just focus his mind on what he wanted.

As we saw in the essay, in the book we could find very good examples of the children change from being a child to being an adult. The first one, about the pass to an adolescent life, and the second one, about the pass to become an adult shows us what normally happens with people. Again, I feel that this topic was very well represented.

Submedia.TV

This web site is called Submedia TV. I found it because a teacher showed it to me one day in the class. I found it interesting, so I decided to see what was it about. Then, I could realize that this web site shows topics that people do not talk about very often. All the contrary, normally, people do not know what is really happening around the world. When I began as a follower of this page I did not know, really, what to expect of it, but then I could see that it tryes to maintain people informed about what governments, around the world, do to maintain people's calm. That called my attention when I saw a video from this page for the first time. It is amazing how the person (that nobody knows who is him/her) knows that much.
The page has a frecuency of videos around once a month, but there are times that you have to wait more than that to see a video. That is the only bad thing I could find of it, and I have to admit that it was hard! It is for this reason that I do not visit it, very often.
If you want to visit it, the page is: submedia.tv  You just need to be a member, and you will receive information about the page.
I really love it!

The use of technology in the classroom

The tipe of information I found was about the use of technology in the classroom. In this article, the author talked about the use of ICOT, what is an application downloaded from ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education), what is a "membership association for educators and education leaders". This article talks about how ICOT can help teachers and students to improve their learning and teaching process. The thing is that, with this program, teachers can autoevaluate themselves, and, in that way, improve their skills in terms of teaching. The usual problem in the society is that teachers do not use technology in their classroom, neither to teach, nor making themselves better teachers.
In my opinion, teachers around the world should be, in some way, interested in technology, because it does not matter if you (as teacher) like it or not. The thing is that students are living other reality, the one that uses technology in everything, and, as we (as teachers) need to teach them in the way that they could learn, we need to be aware of what is interesting for them. What I mean is that, teachers must adapt themselves in the students context, and not the other way around. What is more, technology can help us to know how are we doing in terms of educating people. So that, teachers must be informed about what is new in terms of technology.
Without any doubt, this kind of information is directed to teachers and students, but also, to parents, school's members and the society, because the information is closely related to what happens in the classroom, but it is, also, related to people's education.

Mechai Viravaidya: How Mr. Condom made Thailand a better place

The job that they made is fantastic, because that population have added the habit of taking care of themselves and the planet, to their lives. Also, they have made of the use of protection, something normal in their lives. And last but not least, they do not want people to stop having sex, (as our culture promotes most of the times) they know that people do not do it, they just teach them how to deal with the problem of getting pregnant and to protect themselves when they are very poor.
In my oppinion, something similar should happen to culture if we want to make change. If we, as teachers, begin putting ourselves in the other's shoes, we could teach in a better way. What I mean is that, we need to think about the reality that our students are living, before making some change. For instance, if I see that in the school that I work at, there are no habits of taking care of our planet, I cannot just tell my students to look for some ways to protect the environment on internet. We, as good teachers, need to carry all students to a real place, and make them to get involved in the protection of our planet. I strongly believe (and the video and the strike helped me a lot to believe it) that if we are a small group that have some ideas to help some community, and we are organized, we can make a big change and to transmit our enthusiasm to other people. That could help to improve our culture and to feel that we belong to some place.
What I have learned about the strike, mostly, and the video is that I cannot do something big if I am alone. But, what could really work is to promote some idea. For example, if I want to change something from my community, I can talk with other people and try to see if we have the same interests about the topic. If we think alike , we could continue promoting it, and make a bigger group that could make a change. But the true is that if I am alone the only change I can do is in other people thinking, what could be big depending on people organization.

Hypnotize (System of a Down)

-When you heard it for the first time?
I cannot remember when I heard it for the first time, but I think it was when I downloaded some System of a Down’s discs. I heard the disc called Hypnotize, and when I paid attention to the song (wich has the same name) I really felt that this song had something very important to say, because the only thing that I understood at that time (Because I was not good at english 5or 6 years ago) was “television made you buy it”. It was a little bit shoking for me, because I had never thought about that, I mean, that TV provokes something on people.

-What struck your attention?
When I understood the song (better than the first time) what called my attention was the sentence “Propaganda leaves us blinded”. What, actually, is true. We just need to think about it.

-Who it is by?
This song is by System of a Down

-What it makes you feel?
This song makes me feel upset with people that still think that TV does not lie us. I have met too many people that still think that everything that is shown by the TV cannot be, everything, a lie. Moreover, they think that TV does not control them, because they have the posibility to decide between buying this thing or the other. The thing is that, whatever they decide to buy is because TV gave them a "subliminal message" to buy it, and they do not realize about it.

Chile mine rescue 'set to begin in mid-October' (BBC news)

This news says that the miners, that were to be rescued in, approximately, 3 month, could be rescued in the second half of October. The thing is that everything have been going on quicly, so that the miner could be with their families earlier than they thought.
In my opinion, this news (about miners trapped in San José's mine) is just a way to focus the people's attention in something else, and not on what is happening with the Mapuches. What is more, I really feel that this could be something previously planned. How could all the miners be in a safe place, and the other ones could leave without injures? I am not saying that some of them have to be dead, but I cannot believe that this is totally true. Maybe, the government has planned everything as a "Reality", and promised the miners an ammount of money if they accepted to do it. If it is not that way, I cannot explain why they are so happy, and they thank Piñera for what "he" has done. Do you see that there is nothing bad with the miners? everything is OK, while the Mapuches are suffering, fighting for what, governments ago, was snatched from them.
I am conscious that the mass medias do their job in this game, but, anyways, I feel that miners are not suffering. Even though, their families are.

Revolución Pingüina: la primera gran movilización del siglo XXI en Chile.

The book that I read talked about the Revolución Pingüina. It shows the phases that this revolution had to pass, which went from marchs to occupations. The author of the book gives us information saying what had Chilean students have to live. She (the author) tells us that the revolucion pinguina began too many years before the revolution. The thing is that Chilean students “took the power”, to say it somehow, in 2005, and they began to do things like to show that the diferent problems that the Chilean education had (and have) was a point that too many schools had (and have) in common. But it does not happened just at schools, it happened (and happens) at universities or institutes too.
In the book there are some testimonies of the people who had to live the revolucion pinguina. They were not just students, they were parents, too who were involved in the strikes and the occupation. They helped and gave their support to the Chilean students, in everything they could.
The book presents the topic of Los Pingüinos in a very good way, what help us to understand in a better way what really happened at that time. Of course there is always, at least, one thing that we do not know about this topic and to read about it is really useful to understand and face the reality of it.
In my opinion, we, as future teachers, need to know about the different problems that our educational system has. We cannot expect that TV shows us what have really happened in terms of education. We need to be on the ball and be experts on education, because that is what we chose, and it is the topic that needs us to be active. So we have a commitment with education, and we need to do whatever we can for it.

September 16th task

What is your opinion regarding this?
I think that the treatment given to the Chilean natives
is awful. We (the chilean community) need to be concious that natives (as we) are people who belong to this country. Also, we have to be proud of them, because, remember, they were the onlyones who could stop the Spaniols, or, Do you want to be an Spaniol?

What do you know about our native people? Did you learn about them at school?
I know a few things about them, the thing is that I learned about them at the university, when I took the OFC about folklore, and not at school.

Do you identify with them in any way?
Even though I am not Mapuche, I think that we are people who have a country in common, and we have to leand about the other, because that could give us the identity that we lost.

What Chilean characteristics do you or don't you have?
I like everything that is connected to Chile, but not the gobernment. For example, I like the Chilean music, dance, food (even though I'm vegetarian), culture, geography, diversity, etc. The only thing that I don't like is the gobernment, because I strongly believe that they don't represent us as a community, they just represent their interests.

What things make you proud to be Chilean, and what things make you feel ashamed?
I am proud of Chilean natives, because they have the guts of persist fighting for their rights. But I am ashamed of being Chilean, because, as I said before, of the gobernment. They have made fun of everything that have happen in Chile like the Mapuche hunger strike, or the 33 miners, etc.

In your opinion, what is the so called "Chilean culture"?
Chilean Culture is wath we are lossing. What this means to me is the love that we feel with our country. How much we feel that we belong to this country. And that is not shown by dancing Cueca at September 18th, or eating Empanadas and Chicha. We need to love our country (and with "our country" I am not refering to our gobernment) every day.

The Yes Men Fix The World P2P Edition 2010 HD

I think that, what these men do is other way (a diferent one but valid, as well) to express what they think. They wanted to show a reality that we, as "normal people", are not worried to get informed about. And, definitely, this kind of acts makes us to realize about the real world in which we live. Personally I really liked the way that they show their thoughts about different issues, and to sue them because of that, is just an excuse to blame someone else about something.

Juventud en Éxtasis by Carlos Cuauhtémoc Sánchez

How does the title relate to the story?

In the book we can see that the author wants to show us that teens are crazy about sex, thinking that this is the only way to be successful in a marriage. Later on in the text we can see how the author argues that there are other ways to be successful, instead of the first one. That makes you analyze if teens are right or wrong in what they think about this topic. This is related to the title, because it shows how teens are living their lives, what is shown with the word "ecstasies". What means that, they just want to live their lives as if today were their last opportunity to experience different things.

What is the text, story about?

The book is about sex before the marriage and sex after the marriage. It shows how people make mistakes thinking that the person they are with, are what they really want, when he/she is not.
How to realize that the person you are with is the "correct one"?, this kind of question is answered in the book.

How, in your opinion, did the writer make his/her point ?

I think that the author exposes his idea in a very explicit way. He shows what, normaly, a teenager feels in the moment he/she is thinking in other person who is attractive to him/her. Then, the author shows, without reservation, that he is against of having sex before the marriage but, the good thing is that he has his strong arguments. His idea (the author’s idea) is shown in a way that everyone can understand it.

What is the main lesson of the story?

The main lesson is that it is not bad neither wrong to have sex before the marriage, but, if you had sex unprotected, you have to face the consecuences. They could go from an STD to an unwanted pregnancy.

Fin de la Inocencia (by Jorge Calvo)

This chilean book makes you go through different places of Santiago, you can distinguish each street that the author has described. It is divided into stories and each one talks about different points of view, to say it somehow. What I mean is that each story tells us about somebody different, but he/she is related to somebody else.
The main character is not clear, because in each story there is a new main character, the themes shown on the book, are about: cheating on somebody, or what one person lived. In some cases, a wife was cheating on his husband with the gardener, in others a boyfriend was cheating on his girlfriend one month before the wedding, and other a woman was raped by the main character’s father in times of dictatorship.
The relationship between characters changes in each story, because, as I explained before, there are diferent stories. The thing that each of the stories have in common is that, or the characters were friends (or not) that had sex, or they were people living (or talking about) the dictatorship period.
Each story tells something about the dictatorship and what kind of problems happened in that period. At the book, the dictatorship is seen as a bad moment, but it shows that, even though it was a negative period for a big group of people, it was considered positive for others, the ones that had money.
The thing is that the author wants to show us that there are too many things that makes us losing our innocence. Of course, we are not mature completely, there are always topics that we don´t know about, and discovering them, makes us to lose our inocence.
This is a really weird book. It makes you think about what you have lived, and how innocent you are...

Visual DNA test...

In my opinion this test is very accurate in what it is said on it. The weirdest things that this test has are the questions; some of them are very strange, but very accurate (as I said before). Even though it is an interesting test, it does not say too much about how the person is, but, of course, a test cannot say something like that.
Looking at the starts, I would say that my choices are not the ones that the majority of people regularly choose. What is more, the majority of them are the ones that people do not choose very often.
This website is a very interesting place to learn about what you really like or dislike, but I do not think that it is a good way to help people to understand themselves. If you need help to understand yourself it is better another type of analysis. It could be a good choice to spend more time doing things that you really like, or giving you the time that you need to be by your own.
As it was mentioned, the test is interesting and funny, but we cannot think about it as if it was true, because even though in my case it was everything true, there are cases in which everything is wrong.

my studies...

When I started my studies I felt interested in study English, I loved it, and I still love it. The thing is that at the university we have too many teachers, some great teachers, and others not so much. I really feel that some teachers have disapointed me, and that have affected my english learning. I understand that my learning process is my responsibility, and I have to study more if I feel that I haven't learnt what I have to learn, but if I have bad teachers (in terms of teaching) it doesn't help at all. unfortunately if I talk about it with people who are responsible of it they don't do what they have to do. It disapointed me, because I'm talking about an university that is forming teachers, but they have bad teachers, how can it help?
